On January 16th, our newly-minted Doctoral Scholars and Postdoctoral Fellows met in the Arts Building Faculty Lounge for some light lunch and idea sharing. Our award recipients were able to introduce themselves to each other, outline their research interests and KIAS-sponsored projects, as well as toss around ideas for some interesting and enlightening dissemination activities.
We look forward to the excellent work that the new additions to our research family will bring to the KIAS portfolio – and look forward to sharing it with our University of Alberta community!
Happy New Year to everyone! I hope that you had a restful break with friends and family!
Here at KIAS, we are back at work – excited for what 2012 will bring. One of the most exciting developments that we have been quietly working on is the new KIAS LiveBlog! Through CoverItLive, we will be able to host real-time information sessions and dialogues online, expanding our reach beyond the University of Alberta.
We will be hosting three liveblogs coming up for the undergraduate student conference, Tomorrow’s Ideas, Now. Students and administrators are invited to come to the liveblog to have any questions answered about the application process, abstracts, presentations, topics – everything is on the table. We will be online for an hour for each session, but will endeavour to answer all questions through email following the liveblog.
- Tuesday, January 31, 2012 | 6:00 PM MST
- Wednesday, February 1, 2012 | 8:00 AM MST
- Thursday, February 2, 2012 | 1:00 PM MST
Each of these sessions is timed to allow for our international partners to get online. Tuesday is a good time for Australia and East Asia (Noon in Sydney, 9 AM in Perth and East Asia); Wednesday is great for our partners in Europe (3PM in London, 4 PM in Bergen); and, Thursday is perfect for North America (Noon on the West Coast, 2PM in Madison, 3PM in New York, Ontario, and Quebec).
Looking forward to meeting everyone…online!
